Roof flashing repair

Position a new vent-pipe flashing over the vent, push it down into place, and nail where shingles will cover it. Replace the shingles, and cover the nail heads with roofing cement. Dig around with a putty knife to see if the area is sealed. Dig out any suspect caulk and replace it with a high-quality caulk.


Also check the siding above the step flashing. Replace any cracke rotted or missing siding, making sure the new piece overlaps the step flashing by at least in. One common issue with roofing maintenance is the replacement or repair of what is called roof flashing , or simple flashing. Roof flashing refers to sheet metal . If you see large water spots on the ceiling inside your home, then your roof flashing is most likely damaged.


You can easily repair the roof flashing and prevent . Metal flashing is used to seal out water around the chimney , at vent pipes, along the valleys where two roof pitches meet, and sometimes over exposed windows . Roofs are typically covered in asphalt shingles, but sheet metal and natural stone pieces are also use as are clay and concrete roof tiles.
